Coming off a conference loss Thursday at Mercer, the ETSU men’s tennis team bounced back into the win column, as the Buccaneers defeated New Mexico 5-2 on Sunday at the Bristol Sportsplex in Bristol, Tenn.

With the win, ETSU improves to 7-9 overall and remained a perfect 5-0 at home. Picking up the loss, the visiting Lobos fell to 9-4 on the year.

The duo of Francisco Lamas (Maracay, Venezuela) and Pedro Cressoni (Sao Paulo, Brazil) cruised to their, team-high, seventh win at doubles, 6-3 over Rafael Abdulsalam and Ryoma Matsushita. The pairing improved to 7-4 overall and have won their last three. Fighting for their first win as a pair, Juan Lombisano (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and Peter Kalocsai (Hungary) battled to a 6-4 win over Georgio Samaha and Aram Noroozian in their second doubles match of the year to secure the first point for ETSU.

After he eased his way to 6-3 set-one win, Dimitri Badra (Maracay, Venezuela) recorded his 10th win of the year and eighth in a row with a 7-5 second-set win over Arda Azkara in the topflight. In his last eight matches, Badra has earned every point in straight sets.

Pushing his win streak to four, Thiago Pernas (Buenos Aires, Argentina) secured the third point for the Bucs with a 6-3, 6-4 straight-set win over Rafael Abdulsalam on Court 2. Keeping his win streak going, Adam Nagoudi (Tunis, Tunisia) outlasted Georgio Samaha in a 7-6, 6-4 battle, marking his fifth consecutive victory. Returning to the win column, Lamas captured his fifth individual win of the year with a 6-3, 7-5 straight-set victory over Nikolay Sysoev to close out the match.
