Milligan College Baseball Drops AAC Opener at Bryan

The Milligan University baseball team was defeated by Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) opponent Bryan College 15-5 in game one of the three game series on Thursday afternoon.

The Buffs fall to 10-4 (2-2 AAC) with the win while Lions rise to 9-3 (3-1 AAC).

The Buffs the scoring with a solo home run by Ángel Lobo in the first. Anthony Guzman followed suit with his own solo home run to make the score 2-0. Logan Hullette with a two run home run in the second allowed the Buffs to extended their lead over the Lions 4-0.

Bryan responded with two runs in both the third and fourth to tie the game. Milligan put up another run after a home run by Caleb Berry in the fourth.

Five runs in the bottom of fifth gave Bryan a sizable lead as the Buffs were left with work to do in the ladder part of the game. After two walks and a single gave Bryan bases loaded, the Lions laced a two-RBI double. After three walks, the Lions extended their lead to 9-5 in the fifth.

After a single and two doubles in the sixth, the Lions continued to extend their lead to 11-5. Three more runs on five hits for Bryan allowed the Lions to lead 14-5 going into the eighth inning.

Two singles and a wild pitch allowed the Lions to win 15-5.

Caleb Berry went 3-3 on the day. Additionally, Lobo, Hullette and Guzman each picked up a hit for the Buffs today.

Milligan and Bryan conclude their three-game series tomorrow with one nine-inning game and a seven-inning contest, starting at 1:00 p.m.
