The Tusculum University men's basketball team is receiving votes in this week's National Association of Basketball Coaches' Division II Poll.
The Pioneers received four points and are one of two South Atlantic Conference teams listed in this week's poll.
Tusculum is off to its second-best start in school history as the Pioneers have rattled off a 5-1 record including 2-1 in league play. TU posted a pair of SAC wins last week over UVA Wise (64-61) and Mars Hill (87-76).
Northwest Missouri State is the top-ranked team in the country as the Bearcats received 397 points including 14 first place votes. Indiana (Pa.) is second, followed by Nova Southeastern, West Liberty and Black Hills State to round out the top-five.
Hillsdale is sixth, followed by Missouri-St. Louis, Lincoln Memorial, Fort Lewis, Colorado School of Mines, Central Oklahoma, Augusta, Virginia Union, Minnesota State, CSU San Bernardino, Florida Southern, UNC Pembroke, Bentley, Texas-Tyler, West Virginia State, Dominican, Emporia State, St. Thomas Aquinas, West Texas A&M and East Stroudsburg.
Tusculum will host SAC newcomer Emory & Henry on Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. contest at Pioneer Arena. It will be the 100th recorded meeting between the Pioneers and the Wasps and the first encounter between the longtime foes in 42 years (1980).
