Tusculum University forward Jami Tham has been recognized as the Tennessee Sports Writers Association Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 28-Dec. 4, the TSWA announced Tuesday.
Tham, a graduate student from Arlington, Virginia, averaged 21.0 points and 15.5 rebounds and shot 64.5 percent from the field in two victories as the Pioneers stretched their winning streak to five games with victories last week over Lander (77-64) and Lincoln Memorial (67-38).
Tham scored 20 points on 9-for-15 shooting and added 13 rebounds and three steals in Wednesday's victory over Lander, then shot 11-for-16 from the floor and scored a season-high 22 points as the Pioneers opened their South Atlantic Conference schedule with a victory at Lincoln Memorial on Saturday. Tham had 18 rebounds in the win over LMU to match her season high.
Tham leads Division II with eight double-doubles in as many games, and ranks third in Division II in rebounding with a SAC-best 13.0 per game. Tham also leads the SAC and ranks 14th in Division II in field-goal percentage (61.4 percent) and ranks seventh in the conference in scoring at 17.1 points per game.
The Pioneers (7-1, 1-0 SAC) host UVA Wise (6-1, 1-0 SAC) on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Pioneer Arena.
