Milligan University junior Stephen Gilbert was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Men's Swimmer of the Week on Monday.
Milligan's nationally ranked swim teams turned in their fastest times of the season at the Buffs' midseason meet, the High Performance Invitational, at Kenyon College's Steen Aquatic Center over the weekend.
Gilbert was the meet's No. 2 overall individual scorer, had two invitational titles and notched a pair of NAIA "A" cuts at the event. He won the men's 400-yard individual medley in 3:54.24 and the 200 IM in 1:49.51.
He finished fifth in the 200-yard backstroke in 1:48.83. His times in the 400 IM, 200 IM and 200 back were national No. 1 times in the NAIA this season. He also posted top-15 national marks in the 50 free, 100 free and 200 free.
The Buffs return to action in Florida on Dec. 14 when the Buffs take on St. Thomas during Milligan's annual training trip.
