For the second time in three weeks, Tusculum University junior goalkeeper Grayson Patterson has been named the South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the SAC office announced Tuesday.
Patterson was recognized for the week ending Oct. 23 after compiling a pair of shutouts for the Pioneers. The Maryville, Tennessee native made one save in a 2-0 victory at Asbury on Wednesday, and had two saves in a 0-0 draw at Wingate on Saturday that clinched a SAC Championship tournament berth for the Pioneers.
Patterson has recorded three consecutive shutouts and seven overall this season, and has a streak of 320 minutes, 15 seconds without conceding a goal. Her seven shutouts are tied for the fifth-most in a season in program history.
Patterson, who was also SAC Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 3-9, is tied for the SAC lead in shutouts with seven and ranks seventh in the conference with a 0.95 goals against average. Her 62 saves are fourth-most in the league, and she also ranks fourth in the SAC in save percentage at .805.
