Blount County Sheriff's Office Use Caution When Allowing Unknown Individuals into your Home

Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong is asking you to use caution when inviting individuals who are unknown to you into your home.

The Sheriff's Office has taken some reports of individuals selling items door-to-door and acting suspiciously once inside. In one case, a woman asked to use the bathroom and the homeowner reported some items were stolen from the bathroom.

"We just ask that you stay vigilant and use caution when inviting individuals into your home who are unknown to you, especially if you are not expecting company", Sheriff Berrong said. "Most of the time that individual is honest, but unfortunately not everyone has good intentions."

If you are ever uncomfortable with allowing someone into your home, especially if you are alone, there is nothing wrong with telling them "no" or meeting with them outside. And never hesitate to call Blount County Dispatch if you suspect the individual(s) don't have good intentions.
