Milligan University graduate student Will Stockley received Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week status for the second time this fall, the league office announced on Monday.
Stockley was the top finisher for the No. 2 Buffs at the Royals Challenge in Charlotte on Friday. Milligan finished second of 28 teams at the invitational event. Milligan finished ahead of nine NCAA Division I teams and 10 regionally-ranked DII squads, including Division II's No. 4 (Wingate) and No. 10 (Charleston) teams.
Stockley finished sixth overall in the 257-man 8k race with a time of 24:36. Stockley improved his time at the same McAlpine Creek Park course by nearly 26 seconds after racing in Charlotte two weeks prior.
Aaron Jones followed Stockley in eighth (24:38) and Bryn Woodall placed 21st in 25:04. Jake Crow (39th) and Alex Brittain (43rd) rounded out Milligan's top five. The Buffs posted a total time of 125:22 and a spread of 56 seconds.
Stockley previously earned AAC Runner of the Week honors after leading the Buffs in their opener at Appalachian State. Jones won weekly honors two weeks ago at the Queen City Invitational.
Milligan heads to the NAIA Appalachian Challenge in Knoxville on Friday, Oct. 21 for the Buffs' final tune-up before the AAC Championships.
