87 percent of applicants to East Tennessee State University were admitted for fall 2018

At East Tennessee State University, 83 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 57 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Johnson City enrolled 14,317 students in fall 2018, including 11,268 in undergraduate and 3,049 in graduate programs, data shows. 10.1 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

80 percent of undergraduates are residents of Tennessee, and 19 percent are residents of other states. 1 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (81 percent) and Black or African American (6 percent).

The school admitted 87 percent of the 8,009 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 28 percent enrolled.
