The Southern Conference announced on May 6 that scheduled softball tournament games in Chattanooga have been postponed because of severe weather. The contests originally set for May 6 will now take place on May 7, returning to the original tournament schedule.

This postponement affects several teams, including East Tennessee State University (ETSU). ETSU, seeded sixth, is now scheduled to play seventh-seeded Mercer in the first round at Frost Stadium at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 7. The winner of this matchup will advance to face third-seeded Western Carolina in the quarterfinals at 7 p.m. the same day.

Tournament organizers are directing fans and participants to follow updates from the Southern Conference for further information about scheduling and any additional changes that may occur during the event.

The decision was made as a safety precaution due to inclement weather conditions impacting Chattanooga and surrounding areas. Officials emphasized their commitment to ensuring a safe environment for athletes, coaches, staff, and spectators throughout the tournament.

Further updates regarding rescheduling or other impacts will be provided by Southern Conference officials as needed.
