FOIA Request to Milligan University Regarding Chinese National Students on May 14, 2025.

As part of our ongoing efforts to ensure transparency and accountability in educational institutions, we have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Milligan University. This request seeks detailed information concerning the presence and support of Chinese National students at the university.

Our inquiry specifically requests documents or lists detailing all current students who are Chinese Nationals, along with their respective departments of study. In cases where individual student names are protected, we have asked for aggregated data showing the total number of such students broken down by department.

Additionally, we are seeking information on scholarships awarded to these students. This includes documentation showing the amount and source of each scholarship received by Chinese National students. Furthermore, we have requested details about any scholarships affiliated with the Chinese Scholarship Council.

In an effort to understand how Milligan University safeguards its intellectual property and confidential information, our request also asks for any policies or procedures related to monitoring students, including those who are Chinese Nationals.

This request is made on behalf of Johnson City Times and The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy. As media professionals dedicated to uncovering facts and promoting transparency, access to public records is crucial for us to fulfill our role in holding public institutions accountable. We believe this request aligns with our mission to inform the public and foster an open dialogue about educational practices and policies.

We await a response from Milligan University and will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
