ETSU women’s tennis team claims eighth straight win against Memphis

The East Tennessee State University (ETSU) women’s tennis team secured a 4-2 victory over Memphis in a neutral site match held in Lynchburg, Virginia, on Saturday. This win marks the team’s eighth consecutive victory and improves their overall record to 9-2 for the spring season.

Memphis took an early lead by winning the doubles point. Both teams exchanged 6-2 wins in doubles play, but Memphis clinched the opening point with a narrow 7-6 (7-4) win in the third doubles match.

In singles competition, ETSU regained momentum by winning four out of five completed matches. The Bucs tied the score with their eighth singles win of the spring and continued to perform strongly, securing victories with scores of 6-1, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-1. The decisive point came from a straight-set win in the fifth singles flight, where ETSU prevailed 6-4, 6-2.

Singles Competition:
1. Sofiia Mykhailets (MEM) defeated an ETSU player 6-2, 6-1
2. An ETSU player vs. Alicia Mall (MEM), unfinished at 6-3, 3-6, 5-0
3. An ETSU player defeated Natalia Koppova (MEM) 6-4 (retired)
4. An ETSU player defeated Emma Dvorackova (MEM) 6-1, 6-1
5. An ETSU player defeated Rebecca Frant (MEM) 6-4, 6-2
6. An ETSU player defeated Marina Lubsheva (MEM) 6-1, 6-0

Doubles Competition:
1. Sofiia Mykhailets/Emma Dvorackova (MEM) defeated an ETSU pair 6-2
2. An ETSU pair defeated Natalia Koppova/Rebecca Frant (MEM) 6-2
3. Alicia Mall/Clemence Thouard (MEM) defeated an ETSU pair 7-6 (7–4)

ETSU will look to extend its winning streak next Friday when it hosts Wofford for a Southern Conference matchup at home with first serve scheduled for 2 p.m.
