The East Tennessee State University (ETSU) women’s tennis team lost a non-conference match to Florida Atlantic University (FAU) by a score of 4-1, according to a March 19 announcement. The defeat brings the Buccaneers’ season record to 10-4.

This result is significant as it marks another test for ETSU during their spring schedule, providing experience against out-of-conference opponents and helping the team prepare for upcoming matches.

FAU secured the doubles point by winning both completed doubles matches with identical scores of 6-1. In singles play, FAU clinched three of the four finished matches. ETSU’s only point came from a straight-set victory over Alexia Patru, with a scoreline of 6-4, 6-1. Other singles matches saw FAU players Malwina Rowinska and Katrin Pavkova win their contests, while two matches remained unfinished when the overall outcome was decided.

The full results included several close contests, with one singles match going unfinished despite ETSU leading in the third set. Doubles competition also featured an unfinished match where FAU was ahead.

Looking ahead, ETSU will return home on Sunday to host Appalachian State in another non-conference matchup. The first serve is scheduled for 1 p.m., giving the Buccaneers an opportunity to rebound from this loss and continue building momentum for the rest of their season.
