The No. 75 East Tennessee State University (ETSU) women’s tennis team defeated Wofford by a score of 6-1 on March 13, marking its ninth straight victory and improving its overall record to 10-2.

This win is significant as it extends ETSU’s winning streak and demonstrates the team’s ability to recover from early setbacks. The match began with Wofford taking an early lead after sweeping all three doubles matches. Despite this, ETSU responded strongly in singles play, winning all six singles matches in straight sets.

In singles competition, ETSU players each secured victories over their Wofford opponents: the first two matches were won with identical scores of 6-4, 7-5; the third match ended 6-3, 6-1; the fourth was decided at 6-2, 6-2; the fifth at 6-3, 6-3; and the sixth at 6-0, 6-1. With these results, several ETSU players have now achieved nine consecutive singles wins.

Wofford had earlier claimed all three doubles matches with scores of 7-6 (7-4), 6-4, and another at 6-4. However, this advantage did not carry into singles play where ETSU dominated.

Looking ahead, ETSU will travel to Florida for its next match against Florida Gulf Coast on Tuesday. The match is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
