ETSU women’s tennis defeats No. 69 Liberty for seventh straight win

The East Tennessee State University (ETSU) women’s tennis team secured a 4-3 victory against No. 69 Liberty on Friday in Lynchburg, Virginia. This win marks the seventh consecutive victory for the Buccaneers, bringing their season record to 8-2.

ETSU started strong by winning the doubles point with scores of 6-1 and 6-4. The team continued its momentum into singles play, where two ETSU players who had also teamed up in doubles quickly won their matches with scores of 6-2, 6-1 and 6-2, 6-2.

Despite trailing 3-0, Liberty responded by winning three straight singles matches to tie the overall score at three. The match was decided when an ETSU player clinched the final point with a 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 win in No. 4 singles.

The Buccaneers are scheduled to play again tomorrow in Lynchburg against Memphis at a neutral site, with first serve set for 2 p.m.
