The East Tennessee State University (ETSU) men’s tennis team extended its winning streak to 14 matches with a 4-1 victory over Florida Atlantic University (FAU) on March 19. The match, held in Boca Raton, Florida, improved ETSU’s season record to 14-3.

This result marks the team’s longest winning streak since 2016, when they won 15 consecutive matches. It is also their second win this season against a ranked opponent.

The doubles competition was closely contested. ETSU and FAU split the first two matches before ETSU clinched the doubles point with a narrow tiebreak win in the third match. In singles play, ETSU secured three of four completed matches, with victories from Vergara and Martinez among others. Only four singles matches were finished before the overall outcome was decided.

Thursday’s full results included wins for ETSU players over Mark Havlicek and Marek Pazdera of FAU, while Simon Myslivec of FAU earned his team’s only singles point. Two singles matches remained unfinished as the Bucs clinched the overall victory early.

Looking ahead, ETSU will return to action on Friday, March 27, when they host Wofford at home. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
