ETSU men’s tennis secures seventh straight win with victory over Belmont

The East Tennessee State University (ETSU) men’s tennis team earned a 6-1 victory over Belmont on Friday in Nashville. This win marks the seventh consecutive victory for ETSU, improving their season record to 7-3.

ETSU secured the doubles point with two wins, posting scores of 6-3 and 6-2. The team then carried that momentum into singles play, winning five out of six matches. Four of those singles victories were achieved in straight sets.

Martinez continued his undefeated run in singles this spring by defeating Belmont’s Charlie Robin 6-4, 6-2, bringing his individual record to 7-0.

The full match results are as follows:

In singles competition:
1. Martinez (ETSU) defeated Charlie Robin (Belmont) 6-4, 6-2.
2. Another ETSU player defeated Sabi Roi (Belmont) 6-2, 7-6 (7-0).
3. Stefan Vedovelli (Belmont) defeated an ETSU player 7-5, 3-6, 6-0.
4. An ETSU player defeated Morgan Woodson (Belmont) 6-4, 6-3.
5. An ETSU player defeated Austin Yack (Belmont) 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
6. An ETSU player defeated B. Durrels Rojo (Belmont) 6-2, 6-4.

In doubles competition:
1. An ETSU pair defeated Sabi Roi/Stefan Vedovelli (Belmont) 6-3.
2. The match between Charlie Robin/Will Ecklund (Belmont) and an ETSU pair was unfinished at a score of 5-5.
3. Another ETSU pair defeated Eli Mizerski/Morgan Woodson (Belmont) 6-2.

ETSU will next face UNC Asheville at home on Wednesday inside the ETSU mini dome at 2 p.m.
