The East Tennessee State University (ETSU) men’s tennis team is set to close out February and start March with two home matches. The team will play against UNC Asheville on Wednesday at 2 p.m. inside the ETSU mini dome, followed by a match against No. 45 Charlotte on Sunday at noon at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex.

ETSU is currently on a seven-match winning streak, having recently defeated teams such as Eastern Kentucky, Tusculum, DePaul, VCU, Presbyterian, UAB, and Belmont. The Buccaneers have also been strong at home, maintaining an 11-match home winning streak that dates back to February 29, 2024.

UNC Asheville enters this week with a record of 3-2 for the 2026 season. All three wins have come against Division II opponents: King, Mars Hill, and Young Harris. The Bulldogs have performed well in singles play with a collective record of 20-7.

Charlotte has started its spring season by winning six out of seven matches and is ranked No. 45 in the national ITA poll. Their only loss was to No. 16 Clemson earlier in February. Massimo Pizzigoni leads Charlotte with ten singles victories so far this year.

In recent meetings between ETSU and UNC Asheville over the past five years, ETSU has won four out of five times. Against Charlotte, ETSU holds eight wins from their last eleven encounters; however, Charlotte has claimed victory in their most recent two meetings.
