The East Tennessee State University (ETSU) men’s basketball team will play its final home game of the season against the Wofford Terriers on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. The matchup will take place at Freedom Hall Civic Center in Johnson City, Tennessee, and will be broadcast on “Roar,” WEMT-39.1.
Senior Night ceremonies are scheduled to begin at 6:45 p.m., honoring the team’s graduating class and student manager Wesley Guilford for their contributions. Fans attending the game are encouraged to wear gold, with the first 3,000 attendees receiving a complimentary gold T-shirt provided by Ballad Health. At halftime, the Johnson City Honda Small Dog Race is set to take place.
A special Southern Conference (SoCon) Regular-Season Championship trophy presentation and net-cutting ceremony will occur after the game inside Freedom Hall. ETSU secured its sixth outright regular season championship—its first since 2020—after a win over UNC Greensboro (UNCG) last Saturday combined with a Wofford loss to Furman later that evening.
Taylor led ETSU in that victory by scoring 25 points, including a strong second half performance that helped secure the win. He was named SoCon Player of the Week for his efforts against UNCG and his 17-point showing against Furman earlier in the week.
Wofford enters Wednesday’s contest still competing with Mercer for the second seed in next weekend’s SoCon Men’s Basketball Championship in Asheville. Kahmare Holmes recently returned from injury and has scored at least 20 points in each of his two games back; he currently ranks third in overall SoCon scoring this season and second during conference play. Nils Machowski also contributes significantly for Wofford, ranking eighth in league scoring overall and fifth during conference games; he scored 23 points when these teams last met on February 1.
Historically, ETSU leads the all-time series against Wofford with 44 wins out of their previous 64 matchups. The teams have split their last ten meetings, though ETSU has won two of three most recent encounters—including an 86-72 road victory over Wofford earlier this month.
