The ETSU baseball team achieved a 13-0 victory over James Madison on Sunday in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The game, which ended after eight innings, improved ETSU’s season record to 10-5.

All members of ETSU’s starting lineup reached base at least once during the game. Eight out of nine players recorded hits. The left side of the Buccaneer infield had three-hit games, while two other players collected two hits each. One player drove in three runs, and Conner and another teammate hit home runs for ETSU.

Four pitchers contributed to the shutout. One pitcher made his first career start and delivered 4.1 scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Another threw 2.1 shutout frames and earned the win, moving his record to 3-0 this season. Evan Rollison and another reliever finished the game with scoreless outings.

The series finale began as a pitchers’ duel between Jones for ETSU and Tyler Lutz for James Madison. Neither allowed a run until the fifth inning when Matlock hit his first home run for ETSU, giving them a 1-0 lead.

After keeping James Madison scoreless through five innings, ETSU broke open the game in the sixth inning by scoring multiple runs with two outs—including a bases-loaded walk, a wild pitch that scored Matlock, a two-run double from Evans, and a two-run homer from Conner—building an eight-run advantage.

James Madison threatened with bases loaded in the seventh inning but Costarelli struck out a batter to end their chance without allowing any runs. In their next at-bat, ETSU extended its lead further through additional walks with bases loaded and RBI singles from Fetterman and Evans. Twelve of their thirteen runs were scored with two outs.

ETSU is scheduled to return home for a four-game series against Bradley next weekend at Thomas Stadium in Johnson City.
