The East Tennessee State University (ETSU) baseball team is set to begin a seven-game home stand at Thomas Stadium, starting with a three-game series against Sacred Heart. The series opens on Friday at 3 p.m., with additional games scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

ETSU enters the weekend with a 3-1 record after an early lead slipped away in a 7-5 loss to Virginia Tech on Tuesday. In that game, Curless hit his third home run of the season, placing him among the top home run hitters in Division I baseball so far this year. Curless has accounted for three of ETSU’s four home runs this season and totaled ten homers during his first year with the Buccaneers in 2025.

The Buccaneer bullpen has also shown strong performance. Five relievers combined for five innings without allowing an earned run and struck out nine batters against Virginia Tech. Overall, ETSU’s bullpen holds a collective earned run average (ERA) of 2.08 for the season.

At Thomas Stadium, ETSU has maintained a strong record since the start of the 2024 season, winning 52 out of their last 65 home games—a winning percentage of .800.

Sacred Heart arrives with a 1-2 record after facing North Florida in their opening series. JW Fitzgerald leads Sacred Heart’s offense with a .444 batting average across nine at-bats this year. On the pitching side, Bryan Matuschat is set to start game one; he was credited as the winning pitcher in Sacred Heart’s only victory over North Florida.
