ETSU baseball hosts Quinnipiac for three-game weekend series

The East Tennessee State University (ETSU) baseball team is set to host Quinnipiac for a three-game series at Thomas Stadium starting Friday. The series will feature matchups between right-handed and left-handed pitchers from both teams, with the first game scheduled for 3 p.m. on Friday, followed by games at 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.

ETSU comes into the series with a 6-2 record after losing their most recent game to Appalachian State, 8-5. The team’s pitching staff has performed well against right-handed batters this season, holding them to a .204 average over 157 at-bats and limiting opponents overall to a .234 batting average in eight games.

A notable performer for ETSU is , who was named Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week following his performance against Sacred Heart, where he threw five no-hit innings and recorded nine strikeouts in a 26-3 win. So far this season, Harpster has struck out 13 hitters in 8.2 innings and has kept opposing hitters to a .111 average.

At the plate, ETSU’s lineup has shown patience early in the season, drawing 53 walks compared to 58 strikeouts. leads the team with nine walks and holds a .632 on-base percentage. Another standout is , who has drawn seven walks while leading the team in home runs (four), RBIs (12), total bases (24), and slugging percentage (.800).

Quinnipiac enters the weekend with a 2-4 record. A player to watch for the Bobcats is Kyle Garbowski, who currently has a .455 batting average and a 1.201 OPS with four RBIs this season. This upcoming series marks the first meeting between ETSU and Quinnipiac in baseball.
