The East Tennessee State University (ETSU) baseball team secured a 6-3 victory over Belmont on April 10, jumping out to an early lead and maintaining it throughout the game. The win improves ETSU’s overall record to 22-9 for the season.

This result is significant as it strengthens ETSU’s position in their current campaign and demonstrates the team’s ability to perform strongly on the road. The top four hitters in ETSU’s lineup accounted for five of the team’s seven hits during Friday’s game. One player finished with two hits, including a double and two runs batted in, while another contributed two RBI as well. Another Buccaneer reached base three times with a bunt single and two walks, extending his streak of reaching base to 31 consecutive games.

On the mound, ETSU used only three pitchers during the contest. The starting pitcher delivered six innings, allowing two runs on seven hits with one walk and matched his season-high by striking out six batters. Bell earned his fourth win of the year, bringing his record to 4-2. Brosnan followed up by not allowing any runs in the final 1.2 innings and earned his first collegiate save.

The game’s scoring began in the third inning when Conner walked and Ferguson singled before Curless hit a double that scored Conner. Palmese then brought home two more runners with another double, helping make it a four-run inning after he scored on a passed ball.

In subsequent innings, ETSU added more runs through strategic plays such as walks, hit-by-pitches, and timely singles from Curless. Although Belmont responded with runs in later innings—including a solo home run off Bell—the Buccaneers maintained control until Brosnan closed out the game without surrendering further ground.

Looking ahead, ETSU and Belmont will conclude their three-game series on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m., both games airing on ESPN+. Further information about Buccaneer baseball can be found at ETSUBucs.com.
