East Tennessee State University’s women’s basketball team is set to play Chattanooga on February 14 at McKenzie Arena in Chattanooga. This will be the second meeting between the two teams in the 2025-26 season. In their previous matchup on January 17, ETSU lost to Chattanooga 41-53.

During that game, Nelson led ETSU with 11 points, marking her eighth double-digit scoring game of the season. Downing contributed three blocks, eight points, and seven rebounds. Both Downing and Lopez recorded two assists each, while Harper and Nelson forced two steals apiece. The team finished with 41 points, 38 rebounds, eight assists, five steals, and three blocks.

ETSU’s all-time record against Chattanooga stands at 25 wins and 74 losses. Head coach Mock Brown has not yet secured a win against Chattanooga during her tenure at ETSU.

The Bucs have had several notable performances this season. Against Mercer, Richardson scored 12 points while Harper added 10. At Furman, Richardson made a game-winning three-pointer with just over four seconds remaining; she ended the game with 14 points and four assists. In their win over Wofford, Nelson was the leading scorer with 17 points.

Other key games included a victory at UNC Greensboro where Lopez scored 18 points and Downing reached her 500th career point. Against Samford, Downing recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

ETSU is entering its 46th season of competition for women’s basketball in the Southern Conference (SoCon). The current roster includes four freshmen, four sophomores, two juniors, and four seniors—seven newcomers joined by seven returning players. Three members are transfers.

The Bucs were picked to finish third in the SoCon Preseason Coaches Poll after finishing third last season with a record of 17-13. Last year’s squad led the league in blocked shots and included several individual honors: one player made both the All-Defensive Team and First Team All-SoCon while another set a school record for single-season blocks.

Conference action began on January 8 against Furman at home and will conclude on February 28 at Samford. The SoCon Tournament is scheduled for March 6-9 at Harrah’s Cherokee Center in Asheville, North Carolina.

Tickets for home games at Brooks Gymnasium are available for purchase through official channels.
