East Tennessee State University’s softball team lost 0-12 to Tennessee Tech on March 10 in their first midweek game of the 2026 season. The game, played in Johnson City, marked the Bucs’ first shutout loss this year.
The matchup was notable as Tennessee Tech is set to become a future member of the Southern Conference. The Bucs now hold an overall record of 11-6, while the Golden Eagles improved to 3-17 for the season.
During the contest, several East Tennessee State players contributed offensively with singles from Taylor, Boone, Martens, and Rieger. Taylor also recorded the team’s only stolen base. Rieger and Boone each went one-for-two at the plate, leading in efficiency for the Bucs.
Defensively, one player registered a career-high four assists while another tied her career-high with three assists and added a putout. The team turned a double play when a right fielder caught a fly ball and threw out a runner at home plate. Overall, East Tennessee State totaled 18 at-bats, four hits, three walks, nine assists, and fifteen putouts during the game.
Looking ahead, East Tennessee State will participate in the Radford Invitational on March 13-14 in Radford, Virginia. They are scheduled to face both Radford and Lafayette as they continue their season.
