ETSU sophomore sprinter Cook has been named the Southern Conference (SoCon) Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for her performances during the week ending February 10, according to an announcement from the league office.
At the Camel City Sprints held in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on February 6, Cook achieved indoor personal bests in both the 200-meter and 400-meter races. She recorded a time of 24.61 seconds in the 200m, which is currently the fastest mark in the SoCon this season. In the 400m event, she finished with a time of 55.92 seconds, ranking as the third-best performance in the conference so far this year. Additionally, Cook contributed a 55.71-second split in the 4x400m relay, helping East Tennessee State University finish fifth.
Cook is noted as being the first ETSU athlete to receive a weekly honor from SoCon during the current track and field season.
The team will next compete at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational in Lynchburg, Virginia.
