Bucs men’s tennis secures eighth straight win with sweep over UNC Asheville

The East Tennessee State University (ETSU) men’s tennis team secured a 7-0 victory over UNC Asheville on Wednesday at the ETSU mini dome. This win marks the Buccaneers’ eighth consecutive triumph, bringing their season record to 8-3.

In doubles play, ETSU clinched victories with scores of 6-0 and 7-5, securing the first point of the match. The third doubles match was halted with ETSU leading 6-5.

During singles competition, ETSU won all six matches. Five of these wins were achieved in straight sets. One player maintained his undefeated singles record for the spring season at 8-0 after defeating Jip Mens with a score of 6-4, 6-2. Additional victories came from other team members who extended their own winning streaks to three or more matches in singles play.

3. (ETSU) defeated Cian Ingles (UNC Asheville) 6-2, 6-3
4. (ETSU) defeated Trevor Gray (UNC Asheville) 3-6, 7-6, 6-1
5. (ETSU) defeated Martin Fuks (UNC Asheville) 6-2, 6-4
6. (ETSU) defeated Griffin Lovern (UNC Asheville) 6-4, 6-2

Doubles Competition:
1. / (ETSU) vs. Griffin Lovern/Martin Fuks (UNC Asheville), unfinished at ETSU leading 6-5
2. / (ETSU) defeated Cian Ingles/Daniel Franco-Key (UNC Asheville), 6-0
3. / (ETSU) defeated Jip Mens/Trevor Gray (UNC Asheville), 7-5

Looking ahead, ETSU is scheduled to face No. 45 Charlotte on Sunday in a non-conference match at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex with first serve set for noon.
